How We Got Here
Our Story
BMK Freight Services was founded in 2001 by Bill Kowalski, a former long-haul driver who saw firsthand how unreliable logistics could cripple a manufacturer's operation. Starting with a single truck and a handshake agreement with a Chicago-area steel fabricator, Bill built BMK on a simple principle: show up when you say you will, with the load intact.
Over the next decade, BMK grew steadily — not through aggressive acquisition, but through reputation. Word spread among plant managers and logistics directors that BMK was the carrier you called when the shipment couldn't be late. By 2010, the fleet had grown to 80 trucks and the company had expanded into warehousing and distribution.
Today, BMK operates a fleet of 300+ vehicles, three distribution centers, and a specialized logistics division handling oversized and hazardous cargo across all 48 contiguous states. The company remains family-owned, and the same commitment to reliability that Bill built it on is still the standard every driver and dispatcher is held to.

Sandra joined BMK in 2005 and has led the company's operational expansion, including the build-out of all three distribution centers.
